Can from co-op Inverurie. It pours clear orange - blonde with a lasting fluffy white head. The aroma is toasty grains, cereal, bread, earthy, nuttiness, wood, some tangy orange marmalade and some leafy, herbal notes. The taste is firmly dry, pleasingly bitter, woody, earthy, nutty, toasty grains, ryvita, touch green, herbal, grassy, spicy, pithy orange and some bready malts with a drying, spicy finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. I rather like this. Plenty of flavour to it and enjoyable to drink.

440ml can from my local Morrison's supermarket. Drank at home on 8th January 2026, poured (twice) into my Gordon's thistle shaped glass. Dark brown with a beige crown on both pours. Chocolate front with a nice nutty undertone, not as sweet as I expected (that's a good thing), in fact the finish is leaning towards being fairly dry.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours darkest brown to black with a dissipating beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malts, bitter - sweet chocolate, vanilla, coffee grounds, nuttiness and snickers. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, dark roasted malts, chewy, toothy, chocolate, cacao nibs, vanilla and dull coffee notes with a smooth, roasty, chocolate finish. Fairly light for a stout, but not thin. Decent supportive carbonation. Thought this might be a bit sweet, but it wasn't nice butter - sweet balance and very drinkable.

330ml can. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, roast malts. Taste is very rich and quite sweet, chocolate, caramel, biscuit, roast malts still there in the background, finishing with boozy chocolate liqueur warmth and bourbon/oak notes. Full bodied, smooth. Excellent.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours jet black with a dark tan head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, burnt toffee, bitter - sweet, actually some umami, burnt toast, coffee, rich chocolate, tia maria, chocolate shortbread, fudge and salted caramel. The taste is smooth, fairly sweet and full in the mouth, rich chocolate action, gateaux, salted caramel, biscuit, shortbread , definite millionaire's shortbread , chewy, burnt toast, dark roasted malt, slick, oily, slightly charred and quite well hidden alcohol with a drying, toasty finish. Fulsome body and average carbonation. Not nearly as sweet as I had feared. Works well as a dessert beer.
