Description
Wylam Brewery was set up in a disused dairy on a farm near Heddon on the Wall in May 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton driven by their passion for real ale. The brewery grew rapidly on the strength of the quality of its ales, winning awards at festivals around the UK. They outgrew the original 1000L plant in 2006 and brought on-stream a new 3500L plant in August in a bespoke barn conversion. Since then they have enjoyed continued strong growth. In Summer 2016, the brewery moved to its current location at the same time expanding to a 30BBL plant.

Can from lowcostbeer.com, consumed 1 month past BBE. Pours a hazy yellow-gold with small white head. Aroma - orange, funky pineapple, leafy. Taste - bitter orange pith, light marmalade, caramel, pine, leafy. Medium+ bodied, fine carbonation. Nothing unexpected but a very good tasty DIPA nonetheless.

Cans from The Beerhive. Murky deep golden body with a thick off-white head. No visible carbonation. Lots of sticky lacing. Aroma of peach, honey, peanut and dried mango. Flavour of honey, watermelon, peach and lemon sponge. Full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. This is superb, heavily hopped and incredibly drinkable for the ABV. One of the best hoppy beers I’ve tried.

Tap at The Farmer's Boy, St Albans 25/11/2024 Citrus fruity notes of tangerine and grapefruit, citrus peel, pine needles, semi sweet pale malty backing, light berry chimes and black tea accents on the backend of the balanced bitter hoppy close. Can (from Mikkeller shop). Hazy orangeish golden colour with a mediumsized foamy white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is biscuity, some tropical fruits, mild coconuts as well as some toffee tones. Flavour is rather evident coconut with some floral, fruity and mild toffeeish tones to it. A bit strange, but actually rather enjoyable experiment.
