Description
Chalk Hill Brewery was formed in 1993 by Bill Thomas, Tiny Little and David Blake – a group of friends with a shared interest in sailing, and beer. It now stands as the longest running independent brewery in Norwich!

The brewery was named after the surrounding area which was previously known as Chalk Hill, and is now Rosary Road. The brewery is a custom built 15 barrel plant and brews a selection of permanent and seasonal real ales. The brewery supplies it’s beer to local pubs including The Coach and Horses which is on the same site as the brewery.

Cask handpull at Coach and Horses. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Rather a decent golden bitter. Quite bitter on the finish. Lacks a little condition maybe but tasty enough. A little earthy

Cask handpull at Coach and Horses Norwich. Black beer lasting tan head. Chocolate aroma. Chocolate flavour. Not too over the top with the lactose. Some creaminess. Them a pleasant bitter finish. Dry which is odd for a swett milk stout which it isn't. For me a dry stout with good chocolate level

Handpull cask at the Coach & Horses, Thorpe Road, Norwich. Deep gold and clear with a small spotty off-white head. Light perfumed aroma, little bit of dried grass. Taste is surprisingly bitter but otherwise without a lot of character. Astringent bitterness lingers on the back of the tongue. Medium body with soft carbonation. Not the best beer but great to have it at the source.
