Description
Chalk Hill Brewery was formed in 1993 by Bill Thomas, Tiny Little and David Blake – a group of friends with a shared interest in sailing, and beer. It now stands as the longest running independent brewery in Norwich!
The brewery was named after the surrounding area which was previously known as Chalk Hill, and is now Rosary Road. The brewery is a custom built 15 barrel plant and brews a selection of permanent and seasonal real ales. The brewery supplies it’s beer to local pubs including The Coach and Horses which is on the same site as the brewery.

Cask handpull at Coach & Horses, Norwich. Deep chestnut, lasting beige head. Full tasting strong ale with some toasty malts, lots of rich dark fruit. Some hop on finish. The best of the Chalk Hill beers I’ve had.

Cask handpull at Coach & Horses, Norwich. Chestnut with lasting beige head. Again slightly buttery, toffee. More malty fruit, rich fruits of the forest. Bit sickly. Tastes like the malts haven’t been brewed out. Some minimal hop presence on end. Really sickly raspberry ripple flavour hangs on.

Dark reddish coloured ale with good clarity, but no head. Hop fruitiness in aroma is very light. Taste of dark fruit that turns into a slight bitter finish. Medium bodied (half on cask at The Coach and Horses, Norwich 25.09.2006).
