Bottle from Dunnottar Wines, Stonehaven. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet-sour, earth, festive spice, squash, cake and pumpkin pie. The taste is bitter, toasty, earth, burnt cake, plenty of spice, dried fruits, root vegetables, cookie and some umami with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting spicy festive action. Not bad.

Bottle from Dunnottar Wines, Stonehaven. It pours darkest brown/pretty much black with a bubbly beige head. The nose is toasty, rich chocolate, earth, cake and burnt treacle. The taste is bitter, hard roast, acidity, wood, earth, watery and some burnt notes with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. A bit too thin and watery for this style. A nice idea, but a bit of a disappointment if truth be told.

500ml bottle from an Edinburgh Aldi: BBD Jan 16, open and sahred with a mate on 25th Oct 14. Poured a clear golden amber, on top a deep white head. Aroma was malt molasses with a hint of fruitiness. Taste was again malty, biscuit and toffee, the fruit now further back. The finish was surprisingly bitter, but otherwise the hops were well hidden within the flavour.
