Description
CRATE was established in 2012 when the Olympics were in full swing just over the canal, and Hackney Wick was changing fast. CRATE thrives on creativity, free thinking, and working hard. The experimental brewhouse is where all the Limited Edition beers are created.

Latest news November 2020:
The situation is complex, but it seems that there were two separate companies, one for brewing and one for the bar business. Both hit financial trouble, and the brewing company went into administration. Truman's, needing a new site due to delays with their new brewery, are currently brewing in Crate's old brewing space. But the website is still online and Crate beers are still available...

Shared bottle at local tasting. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. LThe aroma has loads of caramel and hints of diacetyl and dust, nothing IPAish about it at all. The flavour is very sweet and dull, some caramel. No IPA, and not a good beer regardless of style.

Clear and pale amber. Lots of caramel and toffee in aroma and in taste. Croquant in aftertaste. Some bitterness to balance. Not very much like an IPA, a bit on the sweet side, but otherwise decent.
