Description
Congleton raised Nick Calvert set up Front Row Brewing as an artisan bespoke brewery in 2012. Alongside his striving business in textile printing he wanted to use his passion in real ale to open his own brewery. As a ex prop in rugby player for Congleton and Sandbach rugby clubs it was only fitting that the theme of the brewery to follow suit.

Cask at the Pineapple, Kentish Town on 27th September 2022. Sepia black with tan ring of foam and pattern lacing. Rich roasty malts aroma. Roastiness in-mouth with coffee and hazelnut. Both of these flavour points linger in a lasting finish. Smooth mouthfeel and a light body. Superb.

1/3 pint from handpump at Ship and Mitre, Liverpool. Yellow hazy color, small white head. Smells earthy, grassy, bit musty, spices, herbal. Decent smell. Light to medium body, light carbonation. Tastes grassy, peppery, earthy, herbal, hay, tobacco. Finishes lightly bitter with notes of hay, tobacco and earthy notes. Nice one, my first real ale, grows on me, nice.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, L6. Dark, brassy gold and clear with a very light white head. Floral aroma with gentle malty notes. Messy taste, malt-heavy with a buttery taste and an unbalanced homebrew-y aftertaste. Oily body, thin to medium. Disappointing.

Third, cask, guest ale at Brewery Tap (Spitting Feathers). Shared with Finn. A bubbly, pearl white head over an unclear golden body. Clingy lacing. Hints of soapy fruits on the nose. Semi-sweet oily hops to the taste profile, doughy. Drying doughy end. So and so. (Chester 26.01.2020).
