A reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with loads of chocolate malt, grassy hops, light treacle, pleasant and nutty. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with loads of roasted malt, chocolate notes, light coffee, nice and smooth. On tap at brewery.

A hazed golden ale with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of citrusy floral hops, light tropical fruits, cream, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with loads of citrusy resinous floral hops, white grapefruit, light mineral notes, very nice and fragrant. On tap at brewery.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a light amber color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated fairly quick. Some light stringy lace.
The aroma had some bready and woody notes up front. Mild tart to sour citrus/vinous/earthy leather and then a crisp brett sourness.
The flavor takes all of the previously mentioned aromas to converge and end up having a light clean caramel and vanilla sweetness to amplify the taste. All of it seems to come into the aftertaste and roll into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair balance between sessionable and sipping ability. Vinous grip seems to agitate a fair harshness on my tongue.
Overall, pretty damn good sour ale that I would like to have again. Might be personal palate, but I seem to like the sour ales that bring forth the subtle vanilla sweetness to round it all out.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark brown close to black in color with a thin white to off white foamy little head. No lace.
The aroma had some marshmallow, chocolate and graham cracker. Warms into some roasted malt, cream and vanilla.
The flavor leans towards a sturdy sweetness converging into some roast and sliding into the aftertaste nicely. All of those previously mentioned aromas really take hold into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body, perhaps just a bit above close to being full. Great sipper for Winter. Some carbonation was felt. ABV felt fine.
Overall, extremely nice imperial stout brewed to show us that Vermont can make absolutely phenomenal stouts.

Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head. Sliding lace.
The aroma had a lusciously sweet milk chocolate opening up into some dark chocolate tones. Nice level roastiness. Subtle coffee bean ebb and flow.
The flavor yields to the sweetness nicely. Roastiness is slightly there, but now some vanilla bean seems to be coming out. Sly cocoa bean to vanilla bean aftertaste leading into a quick malty finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Nice carbonation. ABV felt just a tad under, but still some booziness could be noticed.
Overall, pretty good imperial stout. I wouldn’t mind trying this when they first released it. Surprised to see the carbonation held up.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was basically the same as Janus I.
The aroma was pretty much spot on as well, but with a tad less bleu’ cheese in this one.
The flavor seemed a bit more funkier with stronger vinous (red wine). Super long vinous aftertaste strolling into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a trying sessionability about it. Honestly, I really wanted to sip it because of the strong vinous quality to this. ABV felt fine.
Overall, first one was better than this one. Sorry, not so much for this guy, scale back on the wine and this could be way better.

The aroma had some rustic/funky/vinous barnyard grassy notes, light bleu cheese. Soft herbal tones.
The flavor was herbal and malty with a nice backdrop to the rustic/funky/vinous thing going on. Slight vinous to herbal aftertaste with the same sort of finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a cherishing semi-sweet smooth feel along my tongue. ABV felt spot on for what the brewer projected.
Overall, good saison and collaboration worthy of having again.

The appearance was a nice looking black color with a finger’s worth of off white to almond tan colored head. Adequate roaming stringy lacing.
The aroma strings sweet to roasty coffee bean in and out of some roasted cocoa bean, freely flowing on into a sly vanilla and subtle sweet oaty, and has a graceful milky/creamy sort of flair to it.
The flavor takes all of that but adds a coffee bean acidity to it. Semi-sticky sort of milk chocolate and vanilla bean sweetness flowing into the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sipping quality about it. Mild carbonation. Acceptable stickiness, feels good for the most part.
Overall, it’s the aroma and feel that are quite magical and extremely well done, but that flavor, wishing the acidity could be pulled down in this one because this could be a comparable high quality imperial breakfast stout if that acidity could just be brought into submission.
