Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#8. POOLE. An industrial estate beer, not the most pretty of vacation locations but I enjoy finding a new brewery. Deeper clear golden with a small head. Traditional, with sugars and a light citrus kick.

Sights & Swills Holiday Beer#9. POOLE. Found at the unconventional holiday location of a suburban industrial estate in Dorset! Deeper clear golden with a small head. Easy-drinking golden-style brew. Has a fair sugary-hoppiness.

330ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - thank you very much!]. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Bourbon BA supported, roasty, chocolately, dark malty and slightly caramel malty aroma, notes of caramel, dark caramel, some toffee, dark chocolate, a touch of burnt caramel and vanilla. Taste is dry, roasty, dark malty and dry, tannic, oaky, woody, hints of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, fresh oak wood. Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft, slightly greasy, simultaneously dry palate, fine, dense, soft carbonation. More complex and harmonious aroma, less satisfying taste - decent.

Sample thanks to Grumbo! Clear amber pour, small off-white head. Standard bitter character, malty with an underlying cakey sweetness, dry bitter close. Not bad.

Panda at home, thanks to Grumbo - cheers Graham, 30/03/23. Black with a modest tan head that veers to the edge. Nose is treacle toffee, mellow roast, hint of coffee, chocolate honeycomb, brown sugar dusting. Taste comprises weak coffee, toffee, dark malts, dried fruits, trace of maple syrup. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Smelt promising but overall lacked depth and came over a touch thin and watery, especially for a 7%.

Panda at home, thanks to Grumbo - cheers Graham, 30/03/23. Light black with a khaki covering that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is cocoa powder, raisins, dried fruit esters, light roast. Taste comprises dark malts, spice, toffee, charr, chocolate biscuit, dried fruit rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Ok stout ... wasn't getting much sweetness or lactic presence, would never have guessed from the milk/sweet genre!
