17.10.2013, 0,75l bottle @ home:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head, but doesn’t really look like a wit. Aroma has much of the same sweet spicyness and strange saltyness as the Ale, but also some dried fruits to it. But not even close to being a wit. Taste is wheat, hay, yeast, clove, weeds, grass. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh dry mouthfeel. Not even close to beeing a wit, so boring!

Bottle at home. Has a hazy light orange colour and a very big and creamy, off-white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, spices, citrus and hay. The flavour is a light version of the same with some alcohol in addition. Fresh though. Has a slick and light mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A fresh and spicy ale, but the flavour is a bit careful.

Gusher, but managed to contain it. Medium white head. Hazy opaque amber body with light carbonation. Light mealy banana and cloves aroma with earthy ashy herbal notes. Dryish-sweet mealy earthy banana taste with pea notes. Mid-bodied. Slightly prickly, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish earthy mealy fruity aftertaste with banana and herbal notes. It’s OK, but a bit harsh and muted. (0.75l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

750ml swing-top bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. A gusher – all over the bathroom floor. Very good shot when opened, noisy foam. Apricot coloured body with a light wheaty haze. Airy, white head. Spiced sweet fruity nose. Flavours of sweet orange and ripe banana on a wheaty backbone, lightly spiced. Mild bittersweet endnotes. Respectable version of the style (hotel room, Oslo 03.09.2013).

Bottle at home. Has a hazy matt yellow colour with a big and off-white, soap-like head. Fruity aroma with citrus, spices, wheat and some hay. The flavour is similar but with the addition of yeast, clorine and some hops. Slick mouth feel, and has a light bitterness. The aroma is nice, but the taste feels weird. Fresh though.

750 ml swingtop bottle, from Vinmonopolet Verksgt., Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Very pale straw colour, hazy. Huge white head. Quite nice sweetish and wheaty aroma, notes of orange peel, yeast and spices. The flavour is fresh and medium sweet with distinct notes of mild spices and orange peel, also noticeable hops. The best so far from this new brewery.

Holtens Ale, 750 ml swingtop bottle, from Vinmonopolet Verksgt., Stavanger. ABV is 5.1%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Huge white head. Moderate but fresh aroma, notes of yeast, honey, herbs and floral hops. The flavour is herbal and medium sweet, too modest on the hops, but still fairly decent.
