500ml bottle bought at Smaczek, Leicester. Drunk at home. Light golden, clear.any head quickly dissipates. Light hoppy aroma, some grape and tangerine, some gentle malt. Sweet taste, fruit drink with a metallic note. Moreish if artificial. Medium texture body, low to medium carbonation. I like this even though I know I shouldn’t .

Traditional two-room pub a good half hour walk sputheast of the town proper. I used to come here quite a lot in my pre-ratung days, and it feels pretty much the same, spacious with a nice red pub carpet and a few cask beers. The linge is quiet compared to a more vivacious puboic bar with Sky Spirts,a pool table and some Northants skittles. Today the selection wasn't great in quantity but the quality was decent: Three casks from Tim Taylors, Triple fff and Woodfordes including two dark beers. There are a few reasonably good, if short of exciting, pubs in Kettering, and while the Piper may not be worth the special trek out, its a good option if in this area. And the landlady is new so hopefully the beer range will grow. One to watch.

This was until recently a Three Hills bar, and their branding is still everywhere. The bar is staying open and preparing slowly for a post-Three Hills world. Still a fair bit of their stock here but its going fairly fast. Otherwise its a fairly standard craft beer venue, probably about 25-30 seats spread out generously, plus a performance stage, with with about 13 keg tap and a big bottle fridge. Other breweries represented are Patizan, New Bristol and Glasshouse. Rushden is lucky have this place, I wish them the absolute best.

440ml can bought as part of a delivery from Rainville Superstore and drunk at home. Pinkish orange colour with a slightly lighter shade of same for thick head. The beer is not so much hazy as impenetrable. I am getting all sorts in the gorgeous aroma: tutti frutti sweets, bubblegum, candied orange, peach yoghurt. Taste is sweet and creamy with light notes of orange and stone fruit sour. Thick creamy body, low carbonation. I know I shouldn’t like this as much as I do but… oh my.

Keg draught at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark and murky gold with a small uneven white head and lots of chalky lacing. Malt aroma dominates with notes of vanilla, peach cobbler, grassy notes. Sweet taste, lots more malt, light ler stone fruit and touches of sweeter citrus. Full body with carbonation tones down. Oooh. Yes. So much going on here. Love it.
