Retired American Luddite and refugee of the 2018-2024 Ratebeer/Anheuser-Busch (InBev) fiasco. Thanks Brewver for the chance to continue rating! ....... and yes, I'll soon be a supporter! ........ Since 1968, I've enjoyed all kinds of cheap macro pale lagers, starting with Carling Black Label bottles I found in Grampa Gino's wine cellar! Later, my dad had faves like Old Mil, Strohs, Bud, Coors Light and Piels! They were all good for a budding youngster like me. My ratings aren't to style, but how much I liked it. Thus, my fave styles; lambic, wild & flemish, rate much higher than IPA since I don't like bitter hoppy beers. You like IPA? The lower my IPA rating, the better according to style! There, you have it! Easy peezy, no worries!

P'nut Butter Crunch from 903 Brewers

Can pours clear pale yellah. Big fancy aroma of real peanuts, no lie. First big swig is all peanuts too. Was expecting a cloying bomb but the peanuts in this really come across like the real thing. In the middle, I do start to pick out the cream ale, just barely cause the the peanuts are so overwhelming. Could not drink many of these but for a single tick I'm finding it quite interesting. Not as good as Hershey, Penn, Left Hand or R Bar peanut butter brews but its ok by me. Just don't make me drink more that a couple. In the end, it certainly stands up to its name, except I'm not sure where the crunch comes in.

Raspberry Chalet from Birdfish Brewing Co.

Cheap can from chalet premier. Clear pinkish pale beer. Thin somewhat champagne looking head. Nose is clean fresh raspberries. Taste is bubbly medium bitter wheat ale with some raspberry and tartness. Initially I think its better than expected. Yes, I really like the high level of cutting co2 in this, makes it more refreshing compared to so many other domestically bitter fruited wheat ales.There is some wheat ale bitterness in there and may I say its controlled and almost subdued. Oooh, that cutting carbonation, loving it. Nearing the finish, I'm expecting it to get a bulldogging wheat bitterness but it remains well balanced with the raspberry. Not bad. Probably one of the better american wheat ales I've had. Right up there with Beaver's Chamomile Wheat and Otter Creek's Wolaver's Wildflower Wheat.

Partridge In A Penn Tree from Penn Brewery

Can from a penn brewing 12 count variety pack for $11, about a buck each. Pour is cloudy dirty pale, with a slight orange light brown tint. No head. Nose is very light spice. First taste is certainly pear, then that is backed up with some cinnamon and a little orange peel. I'm usually turned off with holiday spiced brews but this stuff is not as in yer face with the spice. Yes, its there, and you can't miss it, but its seems to be better balanced than most spiced bombs. Also has a good level of co2 to help out with the cinnamon and orange peel dissipation. Not overly sweet. Alky is certainly present for a 6% brew and sometimes I think I'm getting some shades of aged merikan malt likkah in there near the finish. Overall was hoping for something a little more refreshing and civilized, but its ok by me.

LoL, DFH has really lost it; they say in the description above that this is the first of their 2026 ales, WTF? The can says dark lager idiots! It seems this brewer has lost lots of credibility since it was sold back in 2019. I remember when caladione had a shit fit when ratebeer was sold to AB. Whatever hypocrite. Anywho, this can of cheap lager beer pours really dark brown and you can see shades of dark red glowing thru it. Looks just like a good rootbeer or cola. Nose is very mild for a coffee beer, I think it has a tad of coffee sweetness on the olfactory, but you really have to search for it. First taste is mainly coffee and the dark lager is kind of difficult to taste. I like dark lagers but this one is a little annoying to me. Well, considering the coffee is not in yer face, I think I may be getting used to it in the middle. Next big slug right from the can says its got some decent carbonation in there. Maybe getting some of that dark lager in there now as I approach the finish. Not bad overall for a coffee flavored beer.
