Gerbeer Profile

Nice new place, airy and open, with two small floors and sunny patio. Beers are typical small BC craft. Not bad , but not great. Worth a stop on a sunny day for a flight and a hot dog.

355 ml can. Pours a copper color with full head. Aromas of caramel malts, raisins and sweetened fruit. Flavors of bready malts, candi sugar and raisins. Sweet and off point for a Belgian Dubbel but nice enough overall.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with full head.Initial aromas include a ton of rosemary, sweat and juniper followed by meaty gin and toasted malts. Flavors are a little bit more balanced and follow same, but with a good dose of plastic, soap and oak. Seems a bit weird and off balance to me. Maybe a bad can? Certainly not in line with the tap reviews…

350 ml can. Pours a pale copper color with moderate head. Aromas of honey and toasted malts. Flavors of toasted marshmallows, dry honey, dry citrus and toasted malts.

355 ml can. Pours a pale dull gold with moderate bubbly head. Aromas of Brett, a bit of farmyard, pithy lemon, coriander, and wheaty malts. Weaker more watery flavors follow same with some additional spice/white pepper. OK. I definitely like the small can… Extra point.

On tap as Sea Dog SMASH IPA. Pours a dull amber with moderate head. Aromas of bright piney hops and tropical fruit. Flavors are more tropical fruit with some grass, citrus, spicy resin and toasted malts. Maybe not same beer as previous rating as this is not a Hazy. (Though same ABV.) Nice

On tap. Pours a clear pale gold with light head. Aromas of grass, grains and soft lemon. Flavors of biscuity malts, some grass and soft sweetened lemons. OK
