Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#62. DOL DE BRETAGNE. Hazy light golden colour. Easy blonde style with some enjoyable sugars and fruits in both aroma and taste. Found at Le Stuart after exploring the town with a decent amount of time changing between trains.

Vibrant locals pub in the suburbs immediately on the south side of the railway line through the town, about five minutes walk away from the station on its eastern side. It has all the trappings of a suburban public house including darts and football on the television, but with a good focus on local real ales with four available and a craft keg. Its rear garden area is quite large for its end of terrace position and on my Saturday visit a mobile pizza van was parked at its side providing the food for the patrons in the evening - but not for free!!!

Deadication beer to Granville Bantock, who composed the sweet sounding Celtic Symphony - was born on this day. This symphony is deeper golden with a creamy head. Certainly a new age bitter, quite hoppy with hints of fruit but retaining a traditional bitterness.

On this drinking day in history, in 1588 the English successfully navigated the channel to scatter the Spanish Armada with fireships at Gravelines. This navigator is dark clear golden with a creamy head. Hoppy in the main, mild malts, session material being easy in strength and texture.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#62. ST MALO. Found this one at Riff Magnetic, a late night music bar behind the indoor market building in the walled city. Golden with a head. Easy textured but not thin. It's a juicy enough tropical brew in both aroma and taste, although more juicy than tropical.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#61. ST MALO. Evening drink in the centre. Brown coloured sweetish stout with a noticeable carbonation providing a gassiness. There is a little bit of 'roasted' to be found in both aroma and taste. Has an easy enough strength.

Corner bar behind the central areas, and around the corner from L'alambic in quieter streets. The beer selection here is incorporated into the glass windows around both of its sides in this dimly red-lit but appealing and relaxed venue. A few extra beers are available but for tourists the selection is extensive enough with a focus on Belgian and Belgian-styled brews, Breton and some niche specialist options which you will have to pay quite a lot for.

Centrally located, on Market Street, a small venue on the ground floor as it packs in a few fridges by the door before the bar along the side wall at the rear. Seating here is at the front, but as they've utilised the upper floor too there's just about ample seating. Slightly more keg focused than cask, nevertheless its selections are spot-on at decent prices at the bar, with its take-away options a bit more costly but agains the range available is all very good craft.
