From the off-licence opposite Jing Mei fire station, a 375mm. bottle, corked and wired. Aroma: very funky, wet hay, some cherries. Appearance: very dark, opaque Ribena with 2-3 mm. pink foam. Palate: medium-bodied and tart, softish carbonation; finish is long, pleasant, rather sweet hit in back of the mouth. Taste: medium-sweet with tart notes; still pretty funky though cherries coming through nice. Very enjoyable.

From the off-licence opposite Jing Mei fire station, a 375mm. bottle, corked and wired. Aroma: very complex and inviting; funky barnyard, balsamic vinegar, cherries. Appearance: a blood transfusion, with a finger of pink foam. Palate: medium-bodied and very tart on the tongue, rather fizzy carbonation; finish is long and lingering, chewy, ends with a lick of old leather belt. Taste: complements the aroma to a tee, some nice woody notes, no intrusive sweetness, the cherry flavour is discreet. This is a pretty good kriek.

A small can from Mia C’Bon near NCCU. Aroma: a bakery at the end of a long hot day, old pasties, borderline unpleasant. Appearance: opaque honey amber, 2-3 mm. off-white scum. Palate: medium-bodied and sticky on the tongue, soft carbonation; finish is quite long and alcohol hit is discreet. Taste: lightly sweet with bitter notes, some pine, plenty of butter. A complex and satisfying flavour profile, redeeming the aroma, but still, a rather odd IPA.

A small can from Mia C’Bon near NCCU. Aroma: very fresh and fruity, passionfruit. Appearance: opaque light amber, massive snowy white head, very handsome. Palate: medium-bodied and sticky on the tongue, carbonation is on the fizzy side; finish is quite long ending with some astringency. Taste: medium-bitter with a little astringency and some sweet notes. Fruity flavour doesn’t really break through, but there is a surprise hit of butter which is quite pleasing. I liked this one, quite well-crafted.

A small bottle from Mia C’Bon near NCCU. Aroma: very fresh, floral and yeasty. Appearance: semi-opaque copper with some floating stuff at the bottom of the glass, head is enormous and rocky, light tan in colour with a creamy cap. Palate: medium-bodied and slick, softish carbonation; finishes lightly astringent. Taste: medium-bitter, a little astringency, some indeterminate fruit flavour, alcohol is subtle. A rather unusual IPA, drinkable but I would expect a cleaner bite at the finish.
