Can from Hop Burns and Black, enjoyed watching Argentina v Cape Verde. Whitish yellow, gentle haze, with a nice white head thwt disappears. Nose of lemon, grapefruit, raspberry, blackcurrant leaf, grape must, hay. Very fruity and pleasant. Light sweetness, light bitterness, medium sour. Really nicely balanced. Light body, prickly carbonation, gently tart finish. Lovely beer.

Bottle from Hop Burns and Black, enjoyed watching Spain v Austria. Pours deep jet black with a beautiful brown head. Nose of prune, malt, treacle, coffee. Flavour is medium-big sweetness with a well-balanced roast bitterness. Gentle boozy warmth. Full bodied, creamy with a gentle pickle, slight astringency mixed with booze on the finish. A thing of beauty, ever reliable and one of my all time favourites.

Bottle from Hop Burns and Black, enjoyed watching Scotland v Morocco. First Orval in years. Pours lightly hazy golden amber with a big fruity white head. Nose is wonderfully complex - caramel, apricot, grape must, some berry notes, gentle citrus. Profile falls somewhere between a blonde and a gueze. Flavour is well balanced, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, light sourness. Medium body, prickly carbonation, refreshingly dry, with a slightly gueze-y must on the finish. Still a beaut.

Can from Hop Burns and Black, enjoyed watching USA v Australia. Looks great - bright ruby red, cloudy, big pink foam that holds really nicely. Nose is jammy, distinct raspberry and blackberry. Nicely balanced flavour of light sweetness and medium sour. Tart raspberry flavour is prominent. Light body, prickly carbonation, short tart finish. Lingering raspberry. Lovely.

Can from Hop Burns and Black. Pours deep brown with a big brown frothy head that recedes. Nose of cocoa, dates, cherries. Taste is medium sweetness and a medium bitterness that was difficult to put my finger on - I like a bitter porter but it was a bit too astringent for me. Medium body. Improved as it warmed up.

Can from Hop Burns and Black. Pours lightly hazy golden yellow with a bubbly white head that recedes reasonably quick. Nose is mostly lemon and pine, light grassy malt. Very little sweetness, clean medium bitterness. Pleasantly hoppy dry finish, light body, lively carbonation. Drinkable but a bit lightweight.

Can at Rosa's Waterloo. Pretty unremarkable. Looks grand, light hazy amber with a thin head that lasts. Nose is caramel, lime. Taste is medium sweetness, light-medium bitterness that builds. Probably a hint of something fragrant. Dryish finish, light body. Inoffensive and drinkable.
