Nice spot for both a meal and a flight. They have lots of Asian fusion dishes with many vegan and vegetarian options. Beer-wise, they had about 7-8 taps, only 1 of which was their own. They do custom flights of 4 x 5 oz pours for 4500 CRC (pretty reasonable for San Jose). The quality was above average for the city/country. I also got a Taiwanese noodle soup to eat, which was prohibitively salty -- needs major tweaking. All in all, definitely one of the better beer stops in San Jose in 2026.

On tap at Soberanos, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has soft citrusy hops, rice, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and clean, with citrusy hops, some rice, soft floral notes, and crisp biscuity malt. Finishes bitter, floral, and crisp. Good stuff.

On tap at Stiefel Pub Otoya, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma reveals black liquorice, a touch of cocoa, and a touch of red fruits. Flavour is sour—well, this is infected—with tart red fruits, a touch of liquorice, and vinegar. How can you sell such obviously infected nonsense? Egregious.

On tap at Stiefel Pub Otoya, pours a deep dark burgundy with a small beige head. Aroma is rather malty, almost syrupy, hinting at an IPA that unbalanced to the malt—there’s some hop resins in there, but they’re faint. Flavour confirms this impression; there’s resinous hops, as well as some nice bitterness, but the syrupy malts then overwhelm. The balance is off, and this is not that easy to drink. Laudable attempt but needs lots of work.
