12 oz. can, pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma has moderate esters, plenty of floral notes, candi sugar, bubblegum, and some doughy malt. Flavour is reasonably cohesive, with plenty of spicy Belgian yeast, moderate esters, bubblegum some candi sugar, light-to-moderate alcohol, and doughy malt. Clearly not at the level of the finer Belgian strongs out there, but it’s also competently brewed, with a reasonable expression of the Belgian yeast. There's still too much bubblegum and estery character though. Pleasant but nothing more.

12 oz. can, pours a hazy blonde with a medium white head. Aroma has some oniony hops, light citrus, a touch of kiwi, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and tangy, with lots of kiwi, citrusy hops, a touch of pine, and crackery malt to back. Quite dry, very bright, crisp, and nicely bitter. Excellent westie.

330mL bottle, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma is full of peat, tons of tart dark fruits, and some roast. Flavour is intense, with big peat, charred notes, light smoke, big roast, and plenty of dark dried fruits. Remarkably smooth for a near-17% beer. There’s nice peated notes. The palate is oily, quite viscous, and very fruity. A bit too viscous and rough but it has some nice complexity to it.

16 oz. can, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma has some allium, with oniony notes, pine, oily resins, some dankness, and biscuity malt. Flavour has piney and resinous hops, dankness, some oiliness, a touch of allium, and bready malt to back. Oily, somewhat oniony, reasonable hop blend, but not exactly what I like in a WC. Good.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma has some gentle smokiness from the barrels and soft English bready malt. Flavour is surprisingly muted, with gentle whiskey barrels, soft toasted malt, and some earthy breadiness. Surprisingly mellow.

5.9/10 Appearance 7 Aroma 7 Flavor 6 Texture 4 Overall 5
330mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma has a nice, lightly smoky, whiskey barrel character, Belgian yeast, and light esters. Flavour is rather muted: there’s some whiskey barrels, light esters, earthiness, and soft bready notes. The flavours just don’t gel well, and there’s just not much nice here flavour-wise. Rather disappointing.
