Can direct from BrewDog online. It pours darkest brown to black with a tan head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, burnt toast, charred pine, green, herbal, dank, rich chocolate, toffee, salted caramel, umami, liquorice and fragrant angelica root. The taste is rather smooth upfront, bitter - sweet, deep roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruits and berries, crunchy ripe cherry, plum pudding, black forest gateaux, sachet torte, jammy, pleasantly warming alcohol and smooth, toasty finish. Medium+ body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Flavourful and very well rounded. Drinks very easy for 9%.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours deep chestnut brown with a small off - white head. The aroma is malt - driven, bitter - sweet, brown bread, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, fruit cake, malt loaf and a splash of cola. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, toasty grains, woody, some spice, toasted fruit cake, resin, leather and some toasted nuts with a drying, toasty finish. Light to average body and moderate carbonation. Rather flavourful for the abv. Nice bitterness to it.

Bottle from Raynville Superstore. It pours deep/dark brown with a small, bubbly khaki head. The aroma is rich and robust, oily, earthy, medicinal, spicy, peat reek is definitely there, Islay whisky, umami, salty liquorice, dried and dark fruits, fig, raisin, sultana, date, cacao nibs, jammy, fruit cake, Dundee cake and slightly charred. The taste is firm, dry, chewy, toothy, toasty malts, charred oak, umami, liquorice allsorts, juicy plum dark and dried fruits, raisin, sultana, date, prune, fig, black grape, some oak tannin, medical, smoky, Islay whisky and some warming alcohol with a dry, fruity finale. Medium+ body, light carbonation and oily mouth feel. Could be done with a bit more carbonation to lift it. Nice depth to it. Enjoyable I'd a touch heavy.

Can from co-op Inverurie. It pours clear orange - blonde with a lasting fluffy white head. The aroma is toasty grains, cereal, bread, earthy, nuttiness, wood, some tangy orange marmalade and some leafy, herbal notes. The taste is firmly dry, pleasingly bitter, woody, earthy, nutty, toasty grains, ryvita, touch green, herbal, grassy, spicy, pithy orange and some bready malts with a drying, spicy finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. I rather like this. Plenty of flavour to it and enjoyable to drink.

The aroma is bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, charred pine, green , weedy, herbal, dank, some ripe tropical fruits, mango, ripe apricot, red cola and cola cubes. The taste is initially smooth, dark roasted malt, toasted pine, burnt toast, green, weedy, herbal, liquorice allsorts, touch of tropical fruits / zesty citrus and some coffee grounds. Pretty sure OG Zeitgeist was the first ever beer I rated... This boozer Berlin version was procured via Brewdog online. It pours hazy deep reddish - brown with a sturdy beige head. The aroma is rather fruity, dark fruits, dried fruits and berries, touch of spice, toasted fruit cake, toasty malts, cola cubes and splash of Dr Pepper. The taste is initially smooth, dry, roasty, toasty malts, some bitterness, slightly charred, umami, rather fruity, ripe red berry, also blueberry, raisin, sultana, coffee grounds some umami, cacao nibs and some toasty spice with a dry, deeply roasted malt. Medium body and average carbonation. Flavourful and well balanced. Nice one.
