Once thought to be extinct, the Wookey family comes roaring back with its wooliest progeny yet: an imperial black rye IPA that is wickedly hoppy, righteously spicy and fearsome in flavor. While exhibiting DNA from its Wookey Jack ancestry, Wookus offers next-generation attitude with amplified hop aromatics and a bit of rebellious dankness. The result is a beer that blends the familiar with the ferocious. Right out of Firestone Walker mythology and into your glass—behold the beast that we call Wookus.

Big light tan head over a near black body. A subtle nose features a touch of rye, and citrus hops. An older can, but has less bite than its ancestor the Wookey Jack . Nice blend of roasted malt, citrus hops, rye spiciness and touches of chocolate and cream.

Draught Brewed at the Venice experimental plant, not in Paso Robles! Very creamy and dense head with rings of fine lace over jet-black beer. Dry, ureum-rich hops, dry hopbales, ashes. Dryish but yet malty impression, with quite some burnt and ashy notes. Medium bodied at least, with a lot of dry notes initially, but the aftertaste is sweetish to sweet. Quite good black IPA, if, again, sweet. Thanks to the De Koninck official who rectified the initial blunder of the tapcrew!

03.10.2018, tap @ Apollon:
Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet foresty, dark malts, licorice, pine needles, moss, fresh hops, lawn, roasted grain, hints of coffee. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish roasted, dark malts, minerals, licorice powder, pine needles, grass, bark, hops, roasted grain, burnt coffee, soil. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry floral mouthfeel. Nice.
