One-upping the mighty Tsunami Stout is no easy task. To create a beer with even more stout character, our brewers reimagined the fabled Tsunami Stout and created a new Imperial version. Full of rich roasty flavors reminiscent of dark chocolate and espresso, Father of All Tsunamis takes things one step further by aging in Rye whiskey barrels. With layers of spiciness, vanilla and caramel coming from these barrels, Father of All Tsunamis emerges with a richness and balance beyond any stout ever created at Pelican before now.

This rating is from my 25th different Oregon brewery. 500 ml bottle from Tavour. 2023 vintage. Pours black as ink and is topped by a luxurious, pillowy tan head. Aromas of sweet, roasted dark malt, espresso, oak and whiskey. Flavor upfront is bittersweet dark chocolate, espresso, whiskey, oak and crushed black pepper. Rich and luxurious. Light carbonation. Long, roasty finish.

Poured from 650mL bottle (2023 vintage). Near black with small beige head. Woody rye barrel forward, well integrated, more of a medium body, but still enjoyable.

Roast and rye whiskey. Some chocolate, coffee. Black pour with great mocha head and good lacing. Whiskey tang finish. Decent if you love whiskey, but the whiskey part definitely overrides the beer element. Bitter and tangy finish from mash rye malt. Tap at brewery.

Sergey's hunt at Ash's, bottle; vintage 2018 (almost 2 years old)
Black colour with medium sized brown head, short retention. Smooth, dark chocolate, moderate sweetness; the body is medium (because of the high alcohol content); this is a Rye bomb, with nice alcohol kick.
Excellent.
