This west coast IPA harkens back to old days of American IPAs where an intense bitter hop profile was balanced by a caramel sweetness from crystal malt. Our version of this IPA is heavily hopped in the kettle, whirlpool and dry-hop with Centennial, Cascade and Amarillo.

16oz can pours a burnt orange with a nice, thick finger of white head.  Nose is pithy, dried citrus rind, some paper, a little nutty maybe.  Something earthy and lightly toasty I'm having trouble putting my finger on.  Flavor is chewy malt, a little old school crystal malt or toast, dried citrus peel, less piney and more dried leaves and herbs.

Can via the online shop. Lightly hazy gingery gold. Thin fairly dense lasting white foam. Bit of yer marmalade on buttery toast going off. Piny and a little herbal. Taste has sticky sweetness first off with decent resinous bitterness. Nice bit of chew on the palate. Bitterness proper ramps up towards the end. Bit of a grower.

Can from Against The Grain. Hazy deep golden body with an off-white head. Steady carbonation. Aroma of marmalade and pine. Flavour of lemon and grapefruit. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. It might not look like a west coast IPA, but it certainly tastes like one: bold, bitter and sharp.
