We wanted to make a beer that was a bit outside of both breweries normal wheelhouses, so together we chose to create a twist on the classic, tart, Berliner Weisse. Were playing off the slightly sour twang of the base beer by adding heaps of dry-hopped flavor to complement the tartness with citrusy and fruit-forward hop notes. The primary yeast strain is Sierra Nevadas famous Kellerweis wheat beer yeast, which imparts notes of banana and clove, blending seamlessly with the hops to create a dry, white-wine-like flavor that is as crisp and refreshing as anything we've tried.

On Tap foggy very pale yellow. Full fluffy white had and sticky lacing. Musty grassy hop aroma. Light tart clean Berliner flavors, and plenty of late/fresh hop notes. Very nice combination.

Sampled from the tap at Republic 7C. Pours a near clear light yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma combines wheat and earthy tart lemon with some light fruits underlying. Flavor has tart lemon throughout with some wheat underlying.

Starts immediately tart, not overly so but citric and bright, with a grainy wheat middle to round out the sour edges. Lime and white grape come to the forefront, while the back end gives off the mildest of clovelike sweetness, with a modest floral note adding a slight hop bitterness to the proceedings. Finishes dry and yeasty, bread and white wine dominating the fade. Can’t really tell this brew’s been dry-hopped, but drinkable regardless.Looks aren’t great--pours a pale straw gold with a fizzy thin head and no lace--but the feel’s nice and crisp. Decent.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/18/2017. Pours hazy pale golden/straw color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pear, green apple, mango, melon, white grape, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, grass, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus hops, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pear, green apple, mango, melon, white grape, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, grass, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, peach, pear, green apple, mango, melon, white grape, citrus peel, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, grass, pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus hops, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/spiciness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from tart/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, creamy/grainy/acidic, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a very nice Berliner weisse. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, citrus hops, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the balanced acidity/tartness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is some lemon juice and grains of paradise. Flavor is tart and grainy. Very tart and dry. A bit to tart to really get much of anything else including any hops. I guess spot on for the style but a bit to tart for me to really enjoy.
