We wanted to make a beer that was a bit outside of both breweries normal wheelhouses, so together we chose to create a twist on the classic, tart, Berliner Weisse. Were playing off the slightly sour twang of the base beer by adding heaps of dry-hopped flavor to complement the tartness with citrusy and fruit-forward hop notes. The primary yeast strain is Sierra Nevadas famous Kellerweis wheat beer yeast, which imparts notes of banana and clove, blending seamlessly with the hops to create a dry, white-wine-like flavor that is as crisp and refreshing as anything we've tried.

Clear light gold, short lasting head of foam. I smell the dry hopped, fruit tartness, cloves, smells flowery overall.
Dry and fruity mix well. Cloves and banana are mildly infused. Body is on the watery side.
An okay beer.

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a clear gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is dough, banana, wheat, clove. Thin body, clove, citrus, wheat, light tartness, good but wanted more sourness.

Bottle from the mix pack from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours translucent light gold with a large creamy white head. Aroma of pale stone fruits and citrus. Med body, almost. Flavor is tart citrus with some light spice. The citrus is like a blend of lemon and lime for me. Pretty dry stuff. Not really bitter - just tart. Quite refreshing.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Epsom Circle Market. Appearance is hazy light yellow with greenish tinge (think urine sample high in proteins), light sparkle, fleeting 1/2-finger width fizzy white head and no lacing. Aroma is discernible malty base with tart fruit. Taste is tart fruit (granny smith?), with late stages adding bitter and malt. I get the white wine comparison. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with lightly foamy texture, soft carbonation and sour with a bit of malt and bitter finish. Overall, though clearly tart, not a beat-you-over-the-head sourness and there is some nuance here. That being said, I’m not a tart/sour guy in any respect so don’t have much to compare it to.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. A big lemon fruity zesty nose. The flavor is sharp sour lemon, woody, pungent fank hops. Solid. Very drinkable.

12 oz bottle from the mix pack. Aroma is floral, SweeTarts, lemon, faint bubblegum, grain. Pours hazy pale yellow with a medium soapy white head that falls after a minute into a ring and blanket of foam. Taste is highly sour (8/10) and acidic, wheaty, lemony. Not getting much Kellerwies yeast influence other than that faint bubblegum note. Crisp and refreshing AF.
