Mikkeller has opened several world-class craft beer bars all over the world, most recently in Asia. We wanted to apply this globetrotting take to our collaboration brew. We found inspiration in a classic Thai iced tea: the spiced tea and condensed milk classic ubiquitous in Thai restaurants. The result is a spiced amber ale, brewed with black tea, sweet orange peel, tamarind, and star anise with lactose added for a full and creamy mouthfeel.

12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up fruity berry, fig, apple and plum as well as kitchen spices. The taste delivers sweet plum, red apple and fig flowing into a moderate level of spicy earthy tea like notes. Toward the finish a mild tasty earthy sensation is noticed amidst all of the fruity sweetness. So so. Could be dryer.

Aged for a while. From bottle to pint. Liked this more than I expected. Spice is subtle on the aroma and not overpowering on the flavor. Maybe the age has mellowed it some.

Tap@Mikkeller Vik, Copenhagen - Golden Amber pour with white head. Sweet fruity and malty with some distinctive herbal and floral notes coming in, medium body, herbal tea, and light spices into the close.

bottle - Pours hazy orange with a very small head and smells of malt, spice, and citrus. It tastes sweet with oranges, malt, tea, and subdued spices. Medium bodied. Smooth. Different.

Hazy light amber, no head. Muddled spices, whacky, fruity, spicy. Nice character. Ok, that’s fun.

Bottle from the pack, 6C. Amber with a white head. Smells of sweet, floral tea. Not as sweet as expected with tea, orange and light spices. A rapping granny of a beer.

Sample during the "Collaboration Beers On Deck 2!" event on 08/13/2017. Clear golden color with a thick white head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of citrus, tea and malt. Medium body with flavors of herbal tea, orange and malt. The finish is spices and malt. Decent overall.
