Muckle Flugga was named after a lighthouse north of the Shetland Islands.
Hops: Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka
Malt: Pale Malt, Biscuit, Amber Malt

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 26 Apr 2013) Golden colour with foamy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with apricots, citrus, a touch of resin and floral hops. Malty, fruity taste with notes of tropical fruit, citrus, apricots and a generous citric, grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty, with a fresh hop character. Nice one.

Cask at CBC, Islington. It pours hazy golden with a medium white head. The nose is full of tropical fruit....mango, peach, pithy orange and marmalade. The taste is resinous, assertively bitter, tropical fruits, pithy citrus, wood, cereal and touch of pepper with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Packed full of flavour and god damn bitter. Delicious.

Craft Clerkenwell. Light haze on this gold beer. Little white head. Palate is light and semi dry, very slightly soft. Good juicy hops - orange and semi bitter yellow grapefruit. Trace of lemon and a whisper of tropical fruits. Light semi dry finish with a decent bitter linger.

Cask @ Nairn Beer Fest [280213]
Amber, clear, dense frothy whote head, good lacing
Aroma - juicy fruit aroma, soft sweet fruits, very fruity, apricot, soft mango, soft sweet pale malt
Taste as aroma, topical fruits, mango, bit of peach, great citrus hops, very fruity juicy, great flavour, almost jammy, some bitter zest hops in there too
Palate - Medium body, oily, good body. Finish as main flavour, cleans well, soft bitter hop finish
Overall - This is superb - one of Fyne’s best ales - great on cask. Only managed a half - when I went back for more it was a shame there was no more left.

Aroma: Clean, subtle earthy aroma with hints of pear and green apple.
Appearance: Clear amber body with a tight white head that holds well. No visible carbonation. Thick lacing marks.
Taste: Brewed using the extremely rate Riwaka hop from New Zealand, this has light citrus flavours of green apple and pear. Gentle bitterness. Great balance and very easy drinking. To me, it tastes more like a Golden Ale than an IPA.
Palate: Medium body with a very oily, almost creamy mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.
Overall: Honestly, I was expecting more of a hoppy punch for what is apparently Fyne Ales’ most hopped IPA. On paper, this sounded like it could be my favourite beer they’ve produced to date but, although it’s very tasty, it falls short. It’s a close call, but I think my favourite beer I’ve tried from their IPA series is Sanda Blonde.
