2008 bottle, courtesy of TheEpeist, thanks! Malty, vinous aroma with raisin. Alcoholic flavor, sweet and slightly vinous with raisin, dades, dried fruits and mango. Just a hint of oak. Peppery. Tasty and warming. Satisfyingly balanced beer.

Bottle thanks to Tony at OTH: Poured a orange brown with a thin white head. Aroma is coconut, oak, and bourbon. Taste is dark fruit and coconut, soft bourbon and oak notes as well.

Courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Another insane strike by Weyerbacher. This beer is pure goodness. Pours hazy orange with beige head. Aroma had a good coconut nose with like wood oak chips for a light bourbon addition. Taste is similar, boozy, coconut/vanilla, bourbon, some dark fruits,malts some hops in the finish. Overall the addition of oak bourbon makes this one, an awesome offering.

Bottle, thx to the epeeist. What a trader! It’s an orange-golden beer with a reddish hue. A small, dense, beige head sits on top. A fine blend of alcohol, sugars, some cellar and dried fruits escape the glass and plays with my nose as it pours. Mellows out nicely. It’s warming and full-bodied on the palate, with alcohol, sugars, malts, caramel, dried fruits and a lovely American-style hopping. Long sweet finish with a generous amount of bitterness. Plain lovely. Annoying that I didn’t detect the bourbon-like flavors. Because of age? (not mine, the beers) (090116)

2005 bottle thanks to JB175. Pours with a large, light brown head and a clear copper body. Aroma of bananas, dates, lots of raisins, vanilla, oak and some calvados, with brown sugar. Taste is alcohol, and very malty with raisins, and dates, and some bourbon notes. Syrupy with light carbonation.

12 oz. bottle. Pour is a murky brown with lots of suspended junk and aromas that are sweet and fruity. Pears, white grapes, figs and caramel malts all make themselves known in the aroma. Flavor is very heavily malty... I would say the dominant flavor is toffee with some caramel and then a bit of biscuit. The alcohol comes through as warmth in the aftertaste. Lovely. I will say that as this breathes and warms it gets a bit of a watery and unpleasant note to it... it is still good, but right out of the fridge it was much better.

Now this is an interesting bottle, shared by Kinz. Unfiltered pre-release, meaning it’s from 2004 before the official release. Cloudy caramel color, no head. Aroma is caramel and butterscotch to an extreme, with a little nuttiness also. Taste very similar to the aroma, but a little fruitier. No alcohol apparent, and no carbonation. This was damned good, and I’m afraid to ever try it again!

OH yea, big beer alright, with a 11% abv. Volatile, mean sweet aroma. Cloudy iced tea color. Carbonation? What carbonation? Forget about the fizz, this stuff has and alky impact that is soon observed. Rude, unfriendly and whiskyfied. Way too much of a big beer for this session lover. Talk about BIG? Terrible alky drink. Same enjoyability level as an american malt liquor, perfect for this style!

Dark amber color with a red light; thin creamy head. The aroma is malty, with a touch of vanilla and very light wallnut. Thick body, full malt flavor, very sweet, with sweet caramel and fudge too, a hint of liquorice. Even the final is very sweet, not enough hopped, there is a lot of malt and caramel, some sweet liquorice; the alcohol warmth is too much. Not enough complex, not fully convincing; and the barrel is missing in action. For the lovers of malt juice.

22oz bomber picked up at Belo Vino in Ann Arbor 05/06. Nothing like a bomber of an 11% ABV beer to nurse all night. Pours a clear orange-ish copper with nice half inch tan head. The aroma seems like sticking my head into a recently emptied oak whiskey barrel. I get whiskey, oak, grain alcohol, maple leafs and just a hint of dark fruit like raisins, figs and grapes. The taste starts sweet with some light dark fruitiness from dark grapes, raisins and maybe some plums. Then the oak and whiskey flavors take over and carry the experience into the finish. There are brief moments of sweet dark fruitiness and even some faint caramel. At the finish is a noticeable warming that borders on hotness. Not the type of brew I crave 22oz of. But it was an interesting experience.
