New 🇩🇪 brewery ✅ solid dark roasted malty and bitter hoppy aroma and taste, lots of charred ashy earthy malts, undercurrent of bitter citrus peel and pine needles, medium plus body, hoppy and big roasted malty finish. Great first impression.

Murky deep brown with a medium, beige head. A bit of roasted malts along with burnt malt, rye spiciness, citrus and earthy notes. Some background pine. The profile dissected is nice but it doesn’t come together in a great way leading to sort of a mess.

Hopfiger, in erster Linie aber trockener, stark röstiger Malzbeginn. Leicht herb, knackig bitter, Noten von Schokolade, etwas grasig, Kakao. Würzig, intensiv röstig bleibend, lecker! 11/12/11/12/9/12

Can day 22 from Loz's beer advent calendar, I think that we picked this up from Mr Hop webshop Vernray, Netherlands. Had this at home Tuesday 23rd December 2025 listening to Emily Pilbeam standing in for Huw Stephens on 6Music. I made homemade Pork Pies and we've also made Conchiglone Pasta stuffed with Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon. Pours dark brown edging towards black with a head that dropped to a filmy off white colour. There's a little bit of perfume thing going on here, hoppy, maybe that perfume is actually a bit of pink peppercorn 🤔. It's a good beer, however I think Loz is a bigger fan than me. Score 7.0

440ml can. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, thick, dense, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, brown head. Roasty, slightly chocolately, dark malty and grassy, slightly fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of coffee and dark chocolate, hints of juniper berry, scallions, a touch of orange. Taste is bitter, roasty and chocolately, dark malty as well as bitter, grassy and minimally fruity hoppy, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, some coffee, hints of roasted coffee beans, scallions, liquorice, a touch of blueberry, juniper berry, orange peel; massive "coffee" bitterness.
Full body, creamy and slightly oily texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously dry and almost a tad repellent palate, fine, dense, prickly carbonation.
Intense, typically "oxymorontic" BIPA with antidromic hoppy and malty flavours; and additionally in this case: super smooth and simultaneously somehow (carbonation induced) repellent, "marked-off" palate, a deformable liquid, but impenetrable, without access to the interior - a bit demanding, pretty good overall.
