Named for a locally-loved section of Folly Beach, Washout Wheat is an excellent hot weather beer, and our first wheat beer. We checked the overdone spice additions of coriander and orange peel at the door, and instead let the wheat and the yeast work their respective magic. The notes of banana and clove come entirely from that magic, not from any additional ingredients. The end result is a no frills wheat experience, one that quenches your thirst with no extra hang-ups.

12 oz. can from the brewery. Thanks Ashley! Pours a cloudy yellow-gold color with a small white head and fair retention. Almost no lacing. Light wheat ale aroma with a hint of clove. The taste follows the nose: Thicker wheat ale flavor with light clove and a light citrus finish. Not my favorite style, but a better than average Hefeweizen, IMHO. Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Zero bitterness.

Slightly sweet banana bread aroma. Tasted like a watered down Hefeweizen, thin body with a slightly sweet wheat flavor profile.

Super hazy golden coloured body with a nice tan head, about 2 centimetres high. Aroma of wheat, corn, oranges and a bit of light coriander seed. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal flavour at first with some wheat, yeast, flowers and a good bit of sweetness from full oranges. Aftertaste is mainly sweet with some sour notes, similar to a gose, with even a bit of salty flavours, but a big hit of sour lemons is noticeable throughout. Overall, a nice, super refreshing wheat, with a lot of sweet and sour flavours - nice in the summer, even better in the heat of SC, I could imagine! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Southern Season in Charleston, SC on 19-April-2015 for US$2,50 sampled on 18-June-2015 on the train from Washington to New York.

Can: Banana, lemon, yeast, and a bit of cabbage on the nose. Opaque amber, thick head, good lace. Flavor is much cleaner, lemon with banana accents. Medium body, soft carbonation. Enjoyable, but I do love hefeweizens.
