Dirty Little Freak Coconut Caramel Chocolate Brown Ale, first brewed in 2014, takes the traditional American Brown Ale and gives it a sensual new twist – Coconut! This medium-bodied, 5.8% ABV brown ale is a feast for the senses from its dominant blend of warm, roasted malt, coconut, caramel, and chocolate flavors barely restrained by a gentle hop bite, to its tantalizingly satisfying finish.

Sample at the BJCP reception last week at HomeBrewCon. Deep brown with a decent tan head. Huge chocolatey coconut on the nose and flavor. My notes say Girls scout cookie samoas.

341ml bottle, bought at Central City Liquor Store, tasted on Green Point Campground. Pours very dark amber with a tan head. Aroma and taste are toffee, caramel, coffee, vanilla. Vanilla, coffee aftertaste and hoppy bitterness aftertaste. Interesting.

Medium brown. Sweet vanilla and chocolate syrup nose. Big chocolate taste, not a lot of good malt liquor underneath, has random flavours that don’t go anywhere.

Clear brown colour. Almost no foam Aroma is really coconuty, dark malts, toffee, raisins, and biscuity. Sweet. Flavour: very biscuity, quite malty, some hops comes through, nice balance of hops and malt. Quite bitter, with some herbal notes. Toffee/caramel is also pronounced and the coconut flavour is quite prominent. Nicely balanced beer, coconut is a bit too extreme for me.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with moderate head that settles quickly. Aromas of bready chocolate cake and toasted coconut. Flavors of same though floury with metallic and light vanilla notes. A very different brown but pleasant enough.

Tasting at Matt’s
Brown color. Strong bourbon aroma, a bit of rum, then toasted coconut. Dark malts, chocolatey, with strong coconut; unfortunately the final is too dry and a bit ashy, otherwise it would be a very pleasant beer.

12 oz. bottle, pours a dark reddish brown with a small off-white head. Nose brings out lots of chocolate and vanilla beans upfront, followed by shitloads of coconut. Flavour is very dessert-like, with lots of coconut dominating upfront, followed by cocoa and caramel. The coconut steals the show. A fun novelty beer.

Bottle. Nutty coconut, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Chestnut brown with moderate light tan head. Lightly sweet pecan, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Good body. Very good.
