Cask at the Shakespeare’s Head, Holborn on 11th October 2025. Clear amber with shallow foam and spot lacing. Malty aroma with hints of citrus peel. Citrusy fruitiness in-mouth and a blend of malt and zesty citrus for the finish. Engaging mouthfeel and a fair amount of body.

Cask at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A clear mid gold coloured pour with a small white head. Aroma is subdued, lime twist, semi sweet breads, vanilla. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, bready grains, faint lime, very dull, some creamy vanilla notes. Palate is semi sweet, rounded limp. Boring.

Pint up the White Lady. Pours clear golden with a thick white head. Aromas of lime and light biscuit. Taste is more of the same. Limey finish. Bit one note, but had a second! Fest tick 11 and possibly the last due to holidays.

Cask at Wheatsheaf, Stoke-on-Trent. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly lime with some hints of floral hops. In the mouth it starts off sweet and creamy but very quickly some underlying sharpness becomes apparent with flavours of lime citrus, and fruit peel. Later the zestiness comes through along with some spicy traces. Finish is slightly sweet. This is decent – better than I expected.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW). Dark gold with a white head. Digestive biscuit up front with just a hint of lime - definitely not enough to make you think it's a lime-flavoured beer. Which is a shame, because I like lime. Even more of a shame is that there's a touch of parmesan-flavoured vomit in the finish. Bland and slightly unpleasant - Hogs Back stay firmly on my crap brewer list. Maybe I shouldn't encourage them by buying their beers - I only do so to boost my Surrey rating numbers!
