Brewed with surplus chocolate brownies and fresh pasta from UK factories. Jovian lives up to its giant name - big on flavour, bold with chocolate and coffee notes, and full of character.

New Year's Eve 2025 Beers #3 of 3. Last beer of 2025 and have gone for my favourite style to finish the year. Black with a diminishing light head. Easy for strength and easy textured crisp tasting stout, unfortunately the sum of these parts seems to keep the brownie influence and flavours low.

Can at home picked up from supermarche. A light hazed reddish amber brown coloured pour with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is woody mealy bark, nutty brown bread, wet woodland. Flavour is composed of semi sweet brown loaf, raisin. Woody tannin bark, chalky. Palate is semi sweet, drying, chalky. Chocolate brownie, earthy bark, watery finish. Palate is semi sweet, watery, chalky finish lingering mineral.

Can bought at Sainsbury's, Knaphill. Opaque cola brown. Not overly thick of appearance. Thick frothy foamy light beige head. Aroma has cacao and Horlicks style malts. Berry edge provides sourness but overall rather sweet. Flavourwise it's slightly odd. It's bitter - strong coffee with a nod to cacao. Tangy sour berries. A weird starchy base. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat-soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Just doesn't work for me and not really getting anything reminiscent of chocolate brownie in terms of flavour or aroma. Poor show.

Enjoyable overall, but it’s fairly basic. Some toasted malt, a little burnt rubber, faint dry cocoa, mellow earthy bitterness. Dry finish. OK.

440ml can from Sainsbury's, drunk at our holiday apartment in Kent. Pours very dark, medium tanned head. Aroma of light roast, flavour profile builds on this with malty layers,, medium bodied, smooth. Lovely stout but not much brownie flavour unfortunately.. I'd have rated higher if it was labelled a standard stout.
