An extremely thick and rich imperial stout. Nose has malt, oatmeal, slighty burnt brown sugar and touches of Chocolate, booze and coffee. Taste profile features Molasses, cocoa, dark berries, slightly bitter coffee, chocolate milk and toffee. The malt is heavily roasted and dark. The finish includes a slight sourness which adds nicely to the complexity. An extremely rich and thick body adds to the dark and massive taste experience. A touch of ashiness helps keep sweetness under control. A triumph of an imperial stout. Best appreciated at near room temperature. On my best beer ever list... tied at the top.

Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, salty liquorice, tobacco, some peat. Flavour is roasty and fairly sweet with a long chocolate finish. Body is thick, mouthfeel oily. Quite good, though a bit on the sweet side for my taste. The BA versions are even better.

Аромат очень приятный, шоколадный черный, много кофе и зерен от него, немного какао. Есть намеки на ваниль и карамель. Цвет убер черный, пенки почти нет, очень тонкая и кофейная, но быстро падает. Вкус тяжелый, прежде всего терпкий от солода. Много зерен кофейных, шоколадки уже поменьше. Кислинки почти нет что странно, но горчинка при глотке основательная. Послевкусие со сладкими нотками, прежде всего ваниль, совсем немного карамели и что то вроде пирога с лактозой. Снова зерна и какао. В целом норм стаут, но есть лучше.

Appearance is oily black, with a small fizzy tan head. Aroma is fudgy chocolate, coffee, rich dark chocolate, dark malts, vanilla, leathery hints, boozy dark malt undertones, bit of cherry brandy, overdone fruitcake. Taste is rich dark fudgy malts, vanilla, chocolate torte, cocoa, dark rum hints, boozy warmth, hint of burnt treacle and caramel, dark chocolate hob nobs, leathery dark malt. Rich fudgy finish, almost chewy. Great stuff.

Aus der Flasche im 2022-09 getrunken. Dieses Istout hat klassische kräftige Röstaromen. Im Vergleich zu den Mikkeller Stout die in Europa gebraut wurden ist dieses typisch für die San Diego Produktion deutlich bitterer und unharmonsicher. Sicher kein schlechtes Stout, aber dann lieber ein Black oder Beer Geek was in Europa produziert wurde.

Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, roatyness, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, light sweet, medium bitter. Full body, oily texture, malty chocolate and vanilla bitter sweet finish with light alcohol warming notes. Good.

Bottle from Deconinck. Cloudy black with a thin, dark beige head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate sauce, brownie dough, coffee liqueur, hazelnut, candied date, molasses. Taste has sweet date, chocolate praliné & brownie, a bit nutty; vanilla accent along bitter coffee nibs & cream in the middle; malty & roasted finish, more chocolate, coffee & cream, decent earthy hops & warming whisky alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Thick sweet Imperial Stout without becoming 'Pastry', great.

Oldschool Mikkeller stout, glad to finally try it. Pitch black, dark brown foam. Slightly chocolatey smell, with some coffee. Smooth mouthfeel, soft and creamy, but clearly heavy. Taste is very roasty, as it should be, with a good amount of coffee. Great.
