Time flies as they say, and we have reached the twentieth edition of our boundary pushing Abstrakt series of beers. It is going to be one for the ages too, as we are going to the metaphorical town on AB20. We have brewed a coffee milk English barley wine, and have blended this with an equally stunning barrel-aged imperial stout. So think liquid tiramisu, backed by a rich and decadent layer of warming alcohol. And much more besides.

375ml bottle. Pours deep brown. Alcohol heat dominates the nose, little coffee, little sweet milk, more heat, caramel. Nice idea, and I do like it, but I feel the idea could have been implemented a little better.

Bottle at BeerMa. Pours a clear reddish color with a small white head. A huge sweet nose. Really like a cake. Raisin, molasses, heat, brown sugar. Very complex. Awesome. Decadent. Huge coffee beans.

Bottled at AndySnow tasting. Clear copper colour, no head. Milky coffee aroma with some brown sugar . Very sweet with full body and sticky mouthfeel. Milky caramel with syrup and coffee. Saccharine burns in the finish. What a sickly sweet mess!

Bottle from Drinkshop. Intense, rich, strong. Loads of coffee present - this is the dominant feature of the beer. But it is a good coffee-ness. It mixes with caramelly toffeeish malty base, rum and wood. Deep roast present. Alcohol warmth twisting up the finish. Also quite sweet. Very good.

BOTTLE 37,5 CL. Clear deep red-brown, small beige diminishing head. Big desert aroma - coffee, cocoa powder, rum soaked cake, notes of cream and milk chocolate - yeah, Tiramisu, as advertised. A hint of green apple skin. The taste has notes of coffee too, a good deal of alcoholic heat, and a boatload of sugary sweetness. Some coffee bitterness in the finish. Not bad as a desert, but hell, the sugars are totally out of control.

Bottled 375ml. -from Pivoteka Zagreb. Dark amber coloured, minimal off-white head that went away immediately, alcohol and whiff of ash in the nose. Toasted malt, caramel, dried fruits, light coffee and ashy with heavy sweetness and low carbonation. Dry, sugary and quite alcoholic finish. My third Abstrakt and so far the worst one.
