Old rating - A 500ml bottle brought back from my last trip to Guernsey in 2010 & drunk at home later that year. Pours a dark brown colour with a creme head. Aromas of malt. Tastes a hint smokey which is a touch sweet, a mild bitter finish.

Bottle from Arcade Corkscrew, St. Peter Port. Pours a light brown color, topped with an off-white head. Mild aroma, some malty notes and a hint of caramel. Mildly roasty and sweet, some coffee notes as well, but very mild. Nicely drinkable, mild and gentle.

Bottle from Randalls Arcade Corkscrew shop, St. Peter Port, Guernsey and enjoyed on ferry back to Jersey. Pours a chestnut brown with a decent white head, dissipating with no lacing within minutes. Aroma is one of intense cocoa, with room for little else. Medium sweet with minimal bitterness. Thin body and an oily texture. Average carbonation. Helped relieve the boredom of a Channel Island ferry crossing.

Bottle shared at the Cotteridge Convention purchased at the COOP is St Peter’s Port. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, wood, earth, twig, cola and dried fruits. The taste is lightly bitter, toasty, earth, wood, twig, leather, cola and dark fruits with a drying finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Not the most complex thing out there, but easy-drinking anyhow.

24th Jan 2015: Cotteridge Wine bottle share event. Beers were coming thick and fast when this arrived in front of me: a new country tick, so I took my time addressing the brew, even though only a small sample could be taken. Clean brown with a beige head. The aroma comprised of light biscuit maltiness and hints of chocolate: the taste had the same but with added fruitiness missing from the nose. Great beer for the strength and when you consider the beers I was tasting either side of it I think this did really well.

Bottle split at the Cotteridge Convention, thanks to Bropey, 24/01/14. Chestnut brown with a decent beige covering. Nose is biscuit malt, raisen, light cocoa rub. Taste comprises raisens, dark fruit notes, biscuit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, mellow fruit close. So so mild, a little thin and uninspiring.
