Beer #16 of 17 for each day of the 2018 Winter Olympics - One for a Country Participating in the Games: #16 - España (Spain) Deep dark brown coloured body, almost pitch black, with a dense, and relatively thick, two to three centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, oatmeal, light coffee and a bit of grain - very nice and incredibly aromatic. Medium to Full-bodied; Incredible honey and ridiculously sweet flavours of figs, raisins, prunes, caramel and somehow donuts - very nice and sweet with some of the roasted malt and grains coming through near the end. Aftertaste shows the sweetness by far strongest with a little bit of roasted malt, coffee and cream/lactose notes hitting near the end. Overall, a very nice and incredibly balanced beer that focuses way more on the sweet side of things with honey front and centre along with a good deal of roasted flavours that end with some hazlenuts and also show some coffee, oatmeal and a dose of yeast at the tail end. Great to sample and well worth finding, even in the large format bottle if you can grab this somewhere! I sampled this 75 cL, thick walled glass bottle, purchased from New Beer Distributors on 24-February-2018 for US$8,75 in New York, New York sampled a day later in my hotel room on 25-February-2018.

7th July 2016: my last beer of a heavy sharing session on day one of the RBESG in Barcelona. This beer was on tap in Catalluna. Full of dark chocolate and coffee flavours, a good final choice whoever made it. Black bodied with a decent beige head, a well made semi-sweet Stout.
