Starting as a taproom special, this brew was too popular not to bring back for the big time. Made from Cascade and Pacific Jade hops, Knockout is distinguished by a grapefruit aroma. And at 80 IBU, she has a bitter punch, but is balanced with a malty backbone. She’s definitely a knockout!

On tap at Fat Bottom, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out herbal hops, boiled vegetables, and biscuity malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with herbal hops, some boiled vegetables, and a bit of sweet bready malt. Not satisfied with the hop expression here; also a bit too malty. Okay.

Appreciably bitter, not afraid of inflicting moderate IBU abuse, a nice change of pace amid the over-abundance of audience-friendly IPAs out there. Huge sweet malt center eases the hop assault, with a big caramel middle smashing into a massive Cascade finish. Ignore the low ratings; this brew is deceptively solid.
