Lynnbrook, named after our founder’s family farm, is a wild Berliner-Style Weisse with raspberries added, resulting in a very refreshing beer presenting with fuchsia color and an aroma reminiscent of picking tart red raspberries growing next to an old, abandoned barn, with the raspberry-lemon aroma giving way to hints of brie and barnyard funkiness. The flavor is absent of any hops or bitterness and instead has initial impression of subtle lemon and yogurt supported by tart, fresh raspberries and underlying lactic sourness. The beer’s dry finish helps cut through some sweetness from the fruit.

Lovely, lovely Berliner, massively sour and full of raspberry tartness, as big and aggressive as the style can get. Nose offers up hints of funk amd hunks of berry. Looks fairly blah, but that nose makes you not care. Taste punches you in the throat with sour, first with citric abrasiveness, then with a must-tinged berry blast. Dry as hell, and the finish weaves between tangy fruit and a bitter-lemon-in-the-woods fade. Nice.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a pinkish-amber color with a large foamy pink-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was chalky, citric and yeasty. The flavor was tart, sour and dry with berries, yeast, citrus and chalk. Long tart berry and citrus finish. Medium body. Ok.

Bottle at WTF 3. Pours a cloudy orange with thick frothy white head leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is The aroma is strong berry, wheat, dough, lacto. Light body, raspberry, dough, lacto, nice tartness, good.

Can. A- Funky, tart, spoiled yogurt, citrus, sour, barnyard. A- Dull pink color, hazy liquid, light pink head. T- Very sour, tart, acidic, subtle raspberry, citrus, mild funk. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, sour finish. O- This was like drinking a warhead that smelled like manure. The aroma was pretty bad. A huge amount of barynard musty funk aromas and the taste was unbelievably acidic and tart. Definitely a downgrade from the regular Lynnbrook and at only 3% It’s practically sour water.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 8/31/2016. Pours pinkish golden/orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with solid retention, that reduces to a small cap that eventually reduces to nothing. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour raspberry, lemon, lime, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, light lacto funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour raspberry, lemon, lime, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, light lacto funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of fruity/lactic sourness and tangy berry tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour raspberry, lemon, lime, green apple, white grape, hay, straw, light lacto funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a good malt/sourness balance; fairly puckering, but no lingering astringency after the finish. Medium carbonation and light bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, dry, acidic, and lightly grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3%. Overall this is a great fruited Berliner weisse. All around Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; despite the high lactic acidity. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at Backcountry Pizza in Boulder. Nice, ruby copper color, with a small, beige head. The nose is tart raspberries, caramel and toffee, with some notes of vermouth and pine. Oppressively tart, with some sweetness. Medium to heavy body, very acidic, thick, and chewy. This is obscenely sour, to the point of absurdity. Nice, fruity nose, and beautiful color, but the first sip makes you recoil and pucker.

Ever so slightly hazy ruby, pink and bronze coloured body with a very thin off-white head that fades fast. Aroma of ridiculously sour raspberries, grapes, cherries, yeast and a touch of sweetness. Light-bodied; Slightly salty flavour at first with a bit of yeast and wheat and a lot of pungently sour fruit elements - raspberries are the strongest, but some apples, lemons and cherries as well - very nice. Aftertaste shows some malt and yeast, a little sweetness, but the sourness definitely dominates the flavour - very nice and full of raspberries. Overall, a very nice berliner weisse - sour, light in alcohol and contrary to a pure beer of this style - you don’t need to add any syrups yourself - its like the flavour is poured in for you from the little cordial glass! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Spec’s Liqour in Dallas, Texas on 01-September-2015 for US$2,09 sampled at home in Washington on 23-April-2016.
