330ml Bottle - Very dark brown, almost black in colour. Fudge, liquorice, toffee and pine in the aroma. Hoppy, moderately soapy and warming taste with liquorice toffee, pine and a hint of coffee.

(330ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours very dark brown with a big off white head that lingers with loads of lace. Aroma is very fruity with moderate roast. Notes of citrus, red grapes, blackberries, liquorice, pine resin, toffee and chocolate. Flavours even more massively fruit forward with pineapple, orange, grapefruit, blackberry, red grape, mango and more exploding over top of a backdrop of moderate roast, toffee sweetness, chocolate and liquorice hints. Finish is moderately bitter, pine and citrus peel resins and a bit of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium-full with a thick oily nature and fairly soft carb. Goddamn that’s a great black IPA, it’s big and bold and structured but the fruit forward nature means it definitely doesn’t just feel like a hopped stout. Lovely sipper.

330ml bottle: bottled on 12th Dec 14, poured into a La Chouffe badged tulip stemmed glass at home on 29th Jul 15. Looked good, dark and foreboding in a fine sort of way: on top a tanned blanket of foam. Malts rule the nose, rich and powerful with an alcohol promise beyond. Fairly sweet initial taste with a mild smoked bitterness below the surface. This is a feet up, sat in an arm chair by a roaring fire sort of beer: not to be rushed or shared with anyone. Double Black IPA, more like a boozy Winter Warmer too me and an ideal night cap, I like it!

Niemal doskonale Black IPA. Ze spora piana, moze niezbyt trwala ale ladnie sie tworzy. Kolor czarno brazowy, nieprzepuszczajacy swiatla. Smak gozkiego kakao, gozkiej czekolady i nieco ziarnistego pieczonego chleba, pumpernikiel i nuty owocow lesnych. Chmielny aromat perfum unosi sie nad pianka. Ciezkawe tresciwe i mocne, alkohol wnosi tu potrzebna delikatna slodycz, jest wyczuwalny ale to szlachetne wrazenie pozostawia. Wielka klasa i wielkie piwo, polecam

Bottled 12/12/2014 - Pours pitch black with a small white head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, grassy hops, pine, chocolate and syrup. Taste is hoppy, roasty and grassy with loads of bitterness, pine, chocolate and syrup. Finish is heavy and hoppy with loads of pine, alcohol and syrup. Leaves a nice hoppy feel to your mouth, but also feels quite boozy.

From tap @ In De Wildeman, taster size glass. Black color. Dense light beige head with good retention, and sticking to the glass. Aroma’s: roast, roasty sourish, drop, salmiak. Retronasal it’s more droppy (licorice), laurel/bay leaves, roasty sourness, sweetness. Flavor is moedrate sweet, with light roasty sourness and upcoming bitterness. Medium bodied, drinks deceptively easy. Long finish, firm taste, dry-ish, strong roast, reasonably bitter.
