For our 2025 American Barleywine, we have teamed up with our mates at Hoppy People from Sierre in Switzerland, and selected 5 of our favourite hops from this year: Moutere, Azacca, Nelson Sauvin, Cashmere CGX & Azacca Quantum Brite, coming in at an ABV of 10.5%.
Either choose to drink it fresh, or you can wait for it to age past 6 months & see the flavours develop over time.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 07/03/2026.
Deep mahogany brown topped with a beige cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is toffee, dates, fruit cake, light spice, caramel, toasted brown sugars.
Taste comprises dates, toasted brown sugar, earthy fruit rinds, dusty hop presence, cheesecake base, cocoa sprinkle.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Tidy sipper if not from the top drawer.

A mild haze on this deep amber beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. The malts are slightly thin bodied but, rich in flavour. Salted caramel, bitterish dark toffee. The hops provide light pine, a tiny bit of hop spice and a light but, layered hop fruit complexity. Light, semi dry and slightly bitterish finish. These Rivington barleywines do my head in. Do you drink em reasonably fresh and appreciate the hoppage or, do you let them sit for a few years and let beer mature. With hindsight, I would have chosen the latter for this edition. I think this will develop into a classic 'old salty' barleywine. Still good fresh though.

Probably the last of the seasonal loopy-juice efforts still hanging around from the festive period, but a happy find as I've had several of this series before. This version is black with minimal head, sticky-sweet in texture, dark malty in taste with hints of liquorice enhancing the experience. You can feel the booze effect in the body, but it's relatively well hidden in the supping process for its strength.
