Sample at 69 Taps. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Roasted malt and sweet chocolate in the nose. Light-bodied with a milk chocolate and roast malt character. The finish is sweet with a chocolaty aftertaste. Pretty one-note but decent overall.

more of a chocolate brown ale than a chocolate stout moderate roast and there is chocolate in the flavor pallet is on the thin side and thus lacks the thick rich flavor of the best chocolate starts ok for an inexpensive beer

Location: Bottle shared at Max and Andy's Tasting, 2/28/15
Aroma: For some reason, this smells like almost exactly like a rainbow cookie to me
Appearance: It pours a brown color, with a light tan head
Flavor: Taste-wise, it is very sweet and pretty much right on the nose
Palate: Feels smooth and clean, with a soft carbonation, and a very smooth finish
Overall Impression: This is not too bad at all actually. For some reason I enjoyed the cake aroma. I mean shout out to my NY/NJ/Boca folks out there, you guys know that bakery rainbow cookie/cake, and this beer is it. Tastiest thing I've had from Shiner.

Bottle atbthe fantasy football tasting. Pours deep brown with a nose of box cake. Tastes of chocolate cake like entermans brand or similar grocery store, pretty amazingly cakey. A touch sweet. Small pour is all you need of this.

Bottle in Nyc. Opaque black color, small steady beige head. Aroma is strong chocolate and cocoa. Medium-bodied. Flavorwise chocolate is more artifical. Low bitterness. Very much one trick pony.

Some nearby bodega: Pours dark brown with a beige head. aroma is cocoa powder, sugar, and lots of it. taste is kind of like chocolate drink. It is a little watery at the front but then it go and get hella sweet on you. This kind of reminds me of cheap eastern european chocolate from the 1990s.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was cocoa powder, vanilla and soy sauce. The flavor was chalky, marzipan, bread dough, cocoa powder, vanilla and was a bit off. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

12 oz bottle purchased at The Beer Store, Nashua. Thin lasting head on top a black liquid. Aroma is cocoa powder, cake batter and weak roast.
Flavor is exactly as the aroma with the addition of some coffee bean. This is easily the best brew I have sampled from this brewer. In fact it the first from Shiner I was able to drink the entire bottle. Decent dessert stout.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 4/12/2015. Pours slightly hazy very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, cream, and light toast. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and cocoa notes; with good strength. Smells exactly like chocolate cake and frosting. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee, fudge, cream, light toast, and slight herbal hops. Minimal roast/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fudge, vanilla, cream, and light toast on the finish for a good bit. Good balance, complexity, and solid robustness of dark/roasted malt and cocoa flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5%. Overall this a very good sweet stout. All around good balance, complexity, and solid robustness of dark/roasted malt and cocoa flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
