Bottle at Vastactiv tasting. Thx tiong!
The beer poured pitch black in color. Off white head.
Roasted ess, wood, oak and bourbon. Hint of licorice, sweetness and toffee notrs. Not the best balance, heavy on the wood.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head. Aromas dark fruit, whiskey, salty chocolate, oak, and well toasted malts. Flavors follow same with emphasis on whiskey and salty chocolate with some definite umami notes.

Bottle from Raynville Superstore. It pours near black with a small,. bubbly tan head. The aroma is rich and unctuous, oily and robust, dark chocolate, plenty of umami, savoury, liquorice allsorts, dried and dark fruits, fruit cake, date scone, slightly medicinal, burnt toast fruity whisky and some permanent marker pen. The taste is slick, thick, bitter - sweet, drying, dark roasted malt, charred, toothy, dark chocolate, chocolate fudge cake, umami, burnt toast, salty liquorice, dried fruits, malt loaf, toasted fruit cake, warming booze, touch of tannin, whisky soaked oak, dull medicinal character and some rocky road with a drying, chewy finale. Fullsome body, fine carbonation and slick mouth feel. Has Avery pleasing old school character about it. Defiantly savoury in comparison to today's tastes.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has tons of gently smoky whiskey barrels, a touch of bourbon, light iodine, wood, and toasted malt. Flavour has tons of wood, medium roast, tons of whiskey barrel, less so of the bourbon, finishing fairly dry and woody. Not a big body given the base, but those barrels are coming through nicely. Excellent.

Bottle picked up from TripelB Worcester and consumed at home Saturday 7th March 2026 watching the Gordon Ramsay series on Netflix. Pours shark eye black there was barely a head to be noticed so cannot comment on this as didn't see the colour of any bubbles or film. Aroma is bitter cocoa, I also pick up some of the barrel ageing and of course roasted malts. Taste is following a similar trajectory, peaty but not aggressively so, a little tart and tangy. This follows a very different direction to most modern Imperial Stouts and whilst I applaud that because it's not cloyingly sweet (I'm looking at you here Vault City) it's nonetheless a bit dull, well made bit lacks a spark.Score 7.3

Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. An airy palate, a little dry, decent fine carbonation. Pretty light bodied dark malts but, rich in a flavour. A little and mildly tangy dark chocolate. Big rounded whisked soaked ripe fruity goodness. A whisper of peat. Some mild oak barrel induced vanilla. Airy finish. Pretty light palate wise but, rich and tasty.

Bottle at home, from HOTM online, 07/02/2026.
Black with a khaki cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is mellow roast, figs, herb, dark chocolate, light smoke, Speyside barrel waftings.
Taste comprises fruit cake mix, plummy notes, light medicinal but pretty subtle and well balanced for a Speyside barrel, well integrated bourbon, chocolate, raisins, light roast.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid sipper and well balanced.
