This amber beer has an inviting aroma, leading to a superb balance of floral, earthy hops and biscuit malt, complemented by subtle caramel notes and hints of orange and spice.

Cask at the Crown Rivers, Heathrow T5. It pours clear oily amber with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, bitter - sweet, caramel, resin and brown bread. The taste is firmly dry, spicy, woody, earthy, bitter - sweet character, resin, some tannin and caramel with a bone dry finish. Average+ body and well supported cask carbonation. Robust and good for the style.

Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2026, Beer#23. Very mildly hazed dark amber brew, no head on this pour. Hoppy, but quite malty too and it's this part of this lower-end bitterness bitter that lingers in its aftertaste.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] An amber pour with a thin white head; malty aroma; malty taste lifted by a little lemon; and a syrupy finish. Pleasant.

Cask handpull at Victoria Wetherspoons. Clear pale brown colour lasting beige head. Some malt flavour some dusty hop finish. Its a fairly bland bitter. OK decent enough some character. But its a bitter.

Cask at Montgomerys Tower, Shrewsbury. Pours golden amber with a small scummy off-white head and excellent lacing. There’s malts, hops and blood oranges in the aroma. In the mouth it is difficult to decide whether sweetness or bitterness is more prominent. It is certainly quite juicy. Flavour has malts, toasts, and hints of caramel and peel. Some spices come through later leading to a slightly dry finish. This is quite nice – it grows on you.
