Cut through the haze to reveal the taste of American hops in Mass Rising, a double hoppy lager. We infuse this beer with increasing amounts of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Ekuanot hops during the brewing process to maximize flavor and challenge the expectation of what a lager can be.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8,0%, IBU 100. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of American hops, notes of tropical fruits, wood and pine, some malty notes too. The flavour has some malts and caramel sweetness, but is first and foremost hoppy, with fruity and piney notes, and a solid but not too extreme bitterness in the finish. In a blind test i would have guessed that this was a double IPA. Must be one of the better golden lagers I’ve had.

16 ounce can. Medium gold pour. Small foamy white head. Faint bready malt aroma. Flavor is toasted malt and resolute hop bitterness. Sharp peppery and resiny through and through. Though there are notes of citrus, the overwhelming character leans toward crisp, dry lupulin bitterness.

Super super hoppy! If this is just a double IPA, I’m not sure I could handle a triple

Bottle @ Ølbutikken. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aromas of piney, resiny hops, malty, orange, light bitter, citrussy, crackers. Taste is pilsnery, crackers, piney, resiny, malty, orange peel, hoppy. Slick, thick body. Never would’ve guessed I would’ve liked a imperial pils this much!

Can pour into nonic pint glass from The City, Plaistow, NH. Appearance is mildly hazy light orange-yellow with greenish tinge, nice sparkle, with finger-width fizzy white head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong pine as you open the can, strong fruit and mild herbal component, sugary malt sweet backbone. Taste is sweet fruit and candied sugar with mild herb, offset by dank resin bitterness. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, average carbonation, and mix of sweet and bitter finish with lingering pleasant light alcohol warmth. Overall, the hops provide ample aroma, taste and bitterness, though I wouldn't guess 100 IBU's. Sadly, this was old (5 months) so would expect different/even better things fresh. Even so, quite good.

Can at home. Pours a deep amber with a thick white head. Piney hops combined with some grassy and bready notes in the aroma and flavour, a bit too much hop resin bite. Nice bitter aftertaste
