Harvest IPA
Hop Knife recognizes the time-honored tradition of hand-harvesting hops at the peak of maturity. At the end of fermentation, the beer flows through our HopCyclone releasing a bounty of preserved citrus rind, pineapple and tropical aromas.
We taste: orange zest, honeysuckle, pineapple

Bottle: Clear, amber-orange with a small white head. Orange, grapefruit scent. Taste is lively.....tropical, orange-malt. Very juicy and citrusy. Really nice. A growing, herbal and peel bittering towards the finish..

Bottle sample at a tasting at Mastikim. Thanks zvikar. Clear gold. Aroma of pretty stale hops, slightly "green". Flavor has mild sweetness, slightly "green and slightly stale hops and a moderately bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied.

Sample at GABF 10/03/2014, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Clear amber-orange color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, citrus and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Solid IPA overall.

Rosehip and tangerine nose. Clear amber, thin yellow head, lots of carbonation. Rosehip, then marigold, then orange and lemon peel. Moderate, yet pleasant, bitterness. Very nice transitions and complexity. Really delicious.

12oz bottle pours a clear orange with a ring of lacing, white head. Nose has quite a bit of citrus, orange, grapefruit, a little tangerine, some ripe mango too, some candy and pine too. Almost like a toned down HopSlam on the nose. Flavor has a lot of fresh citrus, orange, lemon, tangerine, some pine and some soap, a little rosemary and some other muddled herbs, sweetness is less than what the nose lets on, there’s a malt backbone, but no candy. Bitter, otherwise clean finish.

Bottle. Man, I hoped this would be a home run for Troegs. I am ready for them to rise to the occasion and hit one out of the park. Pour is a decent good with a white head and aromas of floral and sweet citrus. Flavor is very mild tropical fruit with some residual sugar and the like. This one is pretty good, but not a great one. Just lacks the oomph.

Bottle at home in CT - picked up at Top Hops, NYC. Pours perfectly clear gold with a frothy, white head. Lovely aroma with lots of juicy, vibrant citrus fruits, some candied orange, grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor with more juicy citrus fruits, some pale bready malts, grapefruit, lemon candies, mellow bitter citrus rind, pine. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very well balanced on the finish with nice and fresh hop character, light resins, gooey citrus, orange juice, pine, pale bread sweetness. Excellent.

Tap at the Bee Hive. Orange colored. Big citrus nose, some tropical fruits. Lots of citrus in the flavor, plus grapes, cherries, grass. Big bitterness. Great IPA.
