Bottle. Almost black. Roasty bretty aroma. Malty, sour, lemony, bretty flavor. Very vinous with a hint of toffee. Dryish finish with pear. Complex. Delicious!

Not really my thing - I can never much get into sour stouts. Tangerine and roast. Some nut. Black pour with good head and lacing Tangy finish. Tap at brewery.

Black with massive foaming head. Aroma and flavour have a little funky sourness amongst the dark roasted malts.

Draft at Festival der Bierkulturen, Cologne (as Heidenpeters Wild Stout). Black with a small beige head. Aroma of sherry/oxidization, vinous notes, dark chocolate, light roast, licorice and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a light sourness. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Sampled from tap at FdB Köln 2017 as ’Heidenpeters Wild Stout’. Black with a beige head. Slightly sweetish, sourish, slightly fruity and a bit funky aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, red berries and some wood. Moderately sweet, medium sour, malty, slightly roasty and a bit fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, red berries and lots of oak, followed by a short, quite tart, slightly roasty-bitter and vety woody-dry finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very nice!

Bottle from Hopfen & Maltz. Jet black with a tan head. Aroma is toasted malt and sweet fruit. Flavour is toast malt, coffee, chocolate a little liquorice on a sweet wood finish.

Draught at Heidenpeters, Berlin, 18 July 2015) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, liquorice and oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with liquorice, strong black coffee, oak wood, hints of dry sherry and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made with a balanced wood character. Very nice.

Tap@Heidenpeters, Berlin - dark brown verging black pour with a decent beige head and lacing. Aroma and taste is medium roasty and toasty malts, with a good helping of chocolate, some dark fruit notes, sherry infused wooden nuances, great stuff.
