Despite the crudeness it is tricky to make an effective Molotov cocktail. Despite the unruly nature of the rebel it is very tricky to resist accepted conventions. Molotov Cocktail is a tour de force in rebellious hoppiness, it’s a spark for action and by far one of the most anti-authoritative beers ever made by Evil Twin Brewing.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. White head quickly recedes to nothing. Earthy caramel and resin aromas. Sweet caramel and toffee upfront turning to hot butterscotch and resin before the lasting, dry finish.

75cl bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, June 15, courtesy of Paolo. Pours hazy gold with modest white head. One of the last beers of the night and this definitely helped finish things off for me. Lovely clarity of flavours, the simcoe just appearing to take the edge off the resinous pine. I like.

Bottle share round at Richy’s. Hazy gold. Lots of floaters. Film and a few bubbles of white head. Leggy and viscous in the glass. Aroma of juicy, fruit salad. Heavy on the hop juice. Thick, chewy malts. Touch of solvent. Taste is richly sweet, hop and grain. Turns oily bitter. Full bodied, slick, and greasy. Surprisingly easy drinking, though. Finishes long, oily bitter. Booze on the burp.

Pine needle nose. Clear amber, thick head. Surprisingly sweet, grapefruit with a grapefruit peel finish. Full body, easy carbonation, warm but not unreasonable considering it’s 13% ABV. Reminds me of Hopslam or Dogfish Head 120, but dry-hopping seems more judicious, tasteful, and less gimicky. Still, it is awfully cloying. I’d certainly prefer the sweetness dialed in a bit more, but these super sweet, super hoppy beers seem to be redefining what a DIPA can be and are immensely popular.

22oz bottle split between four of us at the 24th June 2015 Shrewsbury Bottle Exchange Group meeting: cheers Paolo for bringing this offering. Slight hazy pour to the amber bodied beer, off-white head on all four glasses. Nose is a mixture of spicy hop notes and malt esters that promise sweetness in the mouth. The taste had a mild orange hint within the hop flavour and malty base, the alcohol never far from your thoughts. Body feel was pretty smooth and almost thick/viscous in nature. Different and interesting.

Sampled from the bottle at the St. Paul Summer Beer Fest. Pours a clear gold with a bit of sediment and a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a combination of grapefruit and pine backed by a bit of thick bread. Flavor has a good amount of sweet grains with a strong booze presence and a bit of pine.
