12 oz bottle. 102914 best by date? Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Caramel aroma with herbal, pine hops. Caramel flavor with herbal and spicy hops, slightly stale tasting. Just an okay beer, and subpar as a double IPA.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, best before 10/29/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with juicy citrus/tropical hop notes with moderate malt sweetness; and good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, caramel, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of resinous pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a nice crisp malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice DIPA style. All around good complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle pour to shaker. One of the darkest colored IPA’s in recent memory and nice malty aroma. Initial malt-forward taste but didn’t really do much for me after that appearance and first sips. Interesting and an okay beer, but . . .

Bottle, 12C. Amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of grapefruit marmalade, bread, some pine. A little syrupy. Sweet bread and biscuit with middle register citrus - sour oranges, grapefruit, kumquat - pine creeps up in a solidly bitter finish. Rich but not oversweet malt side works well with the hops. Quite good, but not particularly interesting.

Rich light copper and amber coloured body with a thinnish one centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of fresh hops, malt, alcohol, earth and a bit more hops - but nothing crazy. Medium-bodied; Assertive PNW hops with a hint of grass and hay noticeable, some subdued sugars and an overall good balance of bright hops, rich malt and some piney notes throughout. Aftertaste shows some alcohol flavours, a hint of light sugars and a bit more of the aforementioned hops. Overall, not seemingly an Imperial IPA to me, just more of an IPA or even an APA. I’m usually a big fan of Alaskan beers and IPAs, but this was more of a ho-hum beer for sure. I sampled this pint on draught at Mellow Mushroom in Denver, Colorado on 08-June-2014 for US$5,00.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a hazy orange-caramel color with a small soapy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was bitter with notes of pine, fruity hops and a bit of toasted caramel. The flavor was very bitter with caramel, strong pine, resin and vague fruity hops. Long hoppy finish. Moderately full bodied. Decent.

On draught at Yard House Denver. The beer pours a clear bronze color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily, Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops, pine and roasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering grapefruit and hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

re-rate at the brewery. Amber, full head. Aroma is full and fruity with orange and melon. Sweet up front, orangey, fruity character. Sweetish finish with a bit of fruity deliciousness.

This double drinks like a pale ale. Very smooth on the palate, amber body with nice head, citrusy hops. Easy drinker.
