Double IPAs - you’re on notice. Small Axe Big IPA is a golden hued IPA that’s deceptively strong and full of tropical hop aroma. Cascade, citra, centennial, nelson sauvin, and nugget hops combine to form an aroma and flavor that’s straight up tropical, with heady notes of pineapple, orange, mango, guava, and grapefruit.

At the M.I.A. brewhouse during a 3-hour layover at MIA as part of a sampler. Copper and slightly hazy with an off white collaring head. Tropical fruit all over the aroma and flavor. The alcohol is hidden, but leaves a nice coat across the tongue. Flavorful and complex.

Brassy colour and bright. Sweet up front but with quite a bit of alcohol and the taste of that is way too apparent. A touch of fruity hop but with a lot if sweetness.

A golden DIPA with a thin white head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with pungent floral piney hops, light treacle, pleasant. In mouth, a rather sweet cloying caramel malt with fruity esters, tropical fruit, pink grapefruit, floral hops, ... Unfortunately, the initial sweetness is jarring. On tap at Brew Hub Lakeland.

4oz pour at Churchkey DC pours a clear orange with some creamy, white head. Nose has some pithy orange, soap, mild herbs, a little lemon tea. Flavor is pithy, soapy, orange, pine. Full, pithy finish. A bit off.
