Mothman is a legendary moth-like creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia. After the collapse of the Silver Bridge, Mothman was never seen again. His spirit lives on in this darkly delicious black IPA, with a balanced blend of roasted malts and citrusy hops to enjoy on moonlit nights.

Can shared in London - picked up in a trade. Pours clear brown with a creamy, khaki head. The nose has modest toasted brown bread, vague cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with more well toasted brown bread, mild milk chocolate, dried berries, earth. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with toasted brown, some earth, dry cocoa. Enjoyable, but pretty simple.

On draft at the Iron Horse Tavern in Morgantown it is a dark Amber color with a slight head. The aroma is sweet malty and the taste is strong some licorice with honey and a hint of citrus. Medium body and bitterness.

Thanks DCLawyer for the can! Poured into snifter showing a black inky center, translucent rims and a finger of tanned foam. The nose shows notes of steel tank and tea. The palate is light bodied and highly carbonated. Flavors of light steel tank and a strong hoppy and roasted malt bitterness on the finish. Strange but it works.

Can. Pours cloudy nearly black with small light tan head. Clear aroma of roast, with notes of hops and yeast and mild hints of citrus. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of grass, yeast and malt. Estery and slightly bitter aftertaste with mild acidic notes. Well-balanced and good.

12 oz. can, from weihenweizen. Dark brown, almost black, color with a medium, bubbly, tan head. The aroma is pine sap, chocolate pudding, malt balls, resin, and anise. Light sweetness, with a sharp bitterness. Medium to heavy body, syrupy, very clingy and astringent, and harsh. This is a fairly smooth and aromatic beer, but it’s a little too harsh and aggressive.
